Kerala Govt's caution to airliners on airfare
Thiruvananthapuram, May 5 (UNI) Kerala Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac today said the government will consider withdrawal of tax reduction on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) if airfares were not reduced.
''The government brought down the tax on ATF. But the aviation companies have not reduced the fares accordingly,'' he told reporters here.
In such a circumstance, the government would think of reviewing the tax concessions and call a meeting with the companies soon, Mr Isaac said.
The CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front Government in the state had decided to cut the tax on ATF to four per cent, expecting that the airlines would pass on this concession to passengers by reducing the fares.
