By Staff
Brands Hatch, Britain, May 5: A1 Team India driven ahead by India's fastest man Narain Karthikeyan once again goes on to make motorsport history as it wins the A1GP Finale race here. In what turned out to be a truly historic weekend in Indian motor-sporting history, Team India qualified at P1 for the Feature race and after a very exciting race, went on to actually win the Season Finale race for the first time ever yesterday.

Karthikeyan said, ''I am really happy with our result today. It was a great race and the team really pulled off a fabulous pit stop. We worked hard to get here and there couldn't have been a better way to end the Season. We have come really far as a team and now we have brought home a result that will really make India proud. I want to thank everyone who supported us through the year sponsors, fans and the media. We are very proud to bring home this win.'' A1 Team India CEO, Andaleeb Sehgal said, ''We couldn't have asked for more from this race weekend. We came here determined to win and we did. It was a fabulous race and all of us at Spice Energy are very proud of Narain and the whole team working behind Team India this season. Jai Hind!'' Team India have shown serious progress and finished the third season of The World Cup of Motorsport in the top 10, moving up from 22nd in Season 1, to 16th in Season 2. In what worked out to be a fabulous race for all those fans in the packed grand stands at the UK's prestigious Brands Hatch Circuit and those watching across the world, Karthikeyan showed real grit, experience and unbelievable race pace today as he dominated the Feature race.

With Team GBR's Robbie Kerr strong on the heels of Karthikeyan and even gaining the lead for some part in his home race, Karthikeyan's incredible driving and the team's efficient pit stop brought Team India back to the front of the grid after the second pit stop. With 16 laps to go, Karthikeyan was not letting down and drove with near zero mistakes to make it past the chequered flag in first place. As he drove past his elated team and the overflowing crowd in the grand stands on his victory lap, Karthikeyan really gave them something to scream about as he demonstrated some fantastic doughnuts for the last time in his car, as the next season will hail in Ferrari's entry in to the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport.

Team India started the Sprint race in fifth position and Karthikeyan held strong to his position through the shorter format, twenty minute race to finish in fifth place.

Team India signs off from Season 3 of the World Cup of Motorsport in the Top 10 with 61 points!
