Srinagar, May 5 (UNI) Police and other security agencies are fully geared up to meet the challenges ahead, Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda said today.
The security forces and police were ready to meet any challenge, Mr Khoda said here after inspecting various moving police establishments including Police Headquarters (PHQ) which re-opened following the biannual darbar move to the summer capital.
He said besides normal policing and counter insurgency operations, the police and security forces in the Jammu and Kashmir would have to ensure smooth conduct of Assembly elections, annual Amarnath pilgrimage, Independence day and other important celebrations However, he said due to concerted efforts and synergy, the Amarnath yatra had remained by and large peaceful during the past several years.
This was possible due to active support of the public, the police chief said.
Earlier, on his arrival to PHQ he was presented the guard of honour.
During the inspection, Mr Khoda had a detailed interaction with the officers and officials and stressed upon them to render their duties with zeal, enthusiasm and discipline irrespective of the place they were posted.
