Thiruvananthapuram, May 5 (UNI) The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) is planning for a ''broad-alliance'' to oppose the stand taken by the government on minority and backward communities in Kerala, Party President Panakkad Muhammadali Shihab Thangal and General Secretary P K Kunhalikuttty said today.
Talking to reporters after a meeting of the state working committee here, they said the IUML would take initiatives to unite like-minded parties under one umbrella against the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government in the state.
Stating that the LDF Government's approach against Dalits and minorities could not be justified, they alleged the government was trying to wipe put the achievements attained by these people over the years.
Earlier, the IUML had taken a decision to work together on common issues with various Muslim organisations and the working committee meeting authorised Mr Thangal to take an appropriate decision in this regard, they added.
