Indian eves rout Pakistanis by 182 runs

Colombo, May 5 (UNI) An unbeaten 92 runs by Rumeli Dhar coupled with a patient 69 from Asha Rawat helped India to post a thumping win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Women's cricket Asia Cup in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka today.

Indian eves did not have to sweat a lot as after posting 276 to win in 50 overs, restricted Pakistan to a meagre 93 for nine in their stipulated overs.

Dhar's 93-ball innings was the highest score in here 51-match career and helped Indian eves to bat their young and inexperienced opponents out of the match.

In a well compiled innings, Dhar punished Pakistan team with seven fours and two six while here compatriot Rawat provided her a good helping hand facing 90 balls. This was Pakistanis third successive loss in the tournament.

India were off to a poor start after Jaya Sharma (0) and Karuna Jain (12) left early at 25 for two. Asha and Priyanka Roy (31) then stiched the innings and put on 50 runs for the third wicket.

Asha, then went on to add 89 runs with Rumeli for the fourth wicket to lay a perfect platform for the later order to launch an onslaught and scored 111 runs in the last 15 overs.

Pakistan never looked in the game were toterring at 64 for 8 in 28 overs. But the Pakistanis finally managed to play out the overs for.
