HBVN vigilance dtects majot power theft during raids
Panipat, May 5 (UNI) The Vigilance team of the Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam during surprise raids last night detected two cases of massive electricity theft and imposed major penalty on the defaulters.
The team slapped a fine of Rs 11 lakh on the owner of a water chilling plant at Madlauda and Rs 4 lakh on the owner of a hotel near railway flyover on Panipat-Gohana road in the town.
A member of the team informed that when the raid was conducted at these premises, it was found that the electricity was being used without any meter.
If the penalty was not paid, a criminal case will be registered against the defaulters, he said.
