Ahmedabad, May 5 (UNI) NETHOTZONE, global web portal, today announced the launch of a free Internet kiosk, that will provide farmers in the state with free internet service, at the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (AMPC), Baroda, during the ''Krishi Mahotsava'' here.
Addressing mediapersons, Company Chief Executive Officer Ravin Vyas said ''With the setting up of the internet kiosk the farmers will be able to utilize internet service for their agriculture service and routine needs with the help of skilled operators, who will man the kiosk.'' APMC Chairman Shailesh Patel said the service will get farmers all necessary information from one place, such as rates of various commodity exchanges, rates from different mandis and updated information on markets and APMC Model Act 2007 of the state Government.
Information on daily prices/stock of the commodities in APMC at other places, financial help provided by various institutions, seed- technology and management, pesticides, fertilizers for various crops, soil and its fertility, legal circulars and notifications and other services will be available online through this kiosk, Mr Patel said.
Information on daily changes in prices/stock of commodities will help the farmer choose the right mandi to trade. Since overstock at one place can lead to a fall in the price, choosing a right mandi can help bag a good deal and increase the bargaining power of the farmers, Company COO Chetan Ingole said.
The kiosk will also inform the farmers regarding advances in seed science and technology, small scale seed enterprises, their structure, seed vigour, crop productivity, post harvest seed management and good quality seed suppliers, he added.
