Election officials seize Rs 26.5 Lakh, four held
Mysore, May 5(UNI) Mysore district election officials seized cash worth Rs 26.5 lakh from two cars and arrested four persons in this connection, early today.
Deputy Commissioner P Manivannan, who is also District Election Officer told newspersons in the first incident Sectoral Magistrate intercepted a car in which cash worth Rs 20 lakh was being transported and arrested three persons traveling in the car and handed them over to police.
In another case a car in which cash worth Rs 6.5 lakh was transported , was seized and the driver was arrested. Further investigation is on to find out to which party the money belonged to.
Meanwhile, Mr Manivannan also clarified that there was no restriction on the number of people who can attend election meetings addressed by political leaders during campaign and it was not correct to blame Election rules for poor turn out for the meetings.
He said more than 500 cases have been booked against various political parties so far for election code violation.
