Budget session of Lok Sabha adjourned sine die
New Delhi, May 5 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was today adjourned sine die, three days ahead of schedule.
Announcing this, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee thanked the members for their cooperation in passing the Finance Bill 2008 but regretted that 28 hours and 30 minutes were lost due to interruptions and forced adjournments. However, he also noted that the House sat for an extra 36 hours and 38 minutes to compensate for the loss.
He said the two-phased Budget Session held 27 sittings, 16 in the first part and eleven in the latter.
Earlier, the Speaker announced the withdrawal of reference against 32 members, mostly from the BJP, to the Privileges Committee of the House.
