Patna, May 05 (UNI) The Bihar unit of the BJP today announced month-long statewide agitational programmes to protest the rise in prices of essential commodities and soaring rate of inflation.

Squarely blaming the UPA government at the Centre for the present situation, BJP state president Radhamohan Singh told newspersons here that the party had already launched a mass campaign to inform the general public about the ''real causes'' behind the unabated price rise.

He said the rate of inflation had crossed the 7.5 per cent mark for the first time since more than a decade now.

He said under the new programmes, the BJP would organise dharnas in front of all District Magistrates' offices on May 15 and hold rallies at the district level on May 20.

The party would also organise a ten-day ''cycle march to villages'' from May 21 to seek the public opinion at the village level and garnering greater support for the protest movement if immediate steps were not taken by the Centre to control the inflation.

The party would also hold several other programmes till June 15 throughout the state to intensify their protest, Mr Singh said, adding that a number of central leaders, including party president Rajnath Singh, BJP All India spokesman Ravishankar Prasad and senior leader Shatrughan Sinha, would attend some of the programmes.
