Midnapore, May 5 (UNI) Two people, including a minor, were killed and at least 30 others admitted to hospital with serious injuries, after a ten-wheeler trolley collided head-on with a smaller truck on NH 6 Mumbai Road at Guptamoni, six kms from Jhargram today.
The ten-wheeler was carrying iron ore from from neighbouring Jharkhand's Singbhum district to Haldia in the district late this afternoon. The right wheel of the truck on the front was getting extremely hot and 16 suddenly burst throwing the truck out of control.
The driver swerved the truck, in attempts to bring it under control. But instead, it went out of control and lurched towards the right dragging the total length of it towards the opposite end of the road, resulting in a head-on collision with a smaller truck coming from the opposite direction.
The smaller truck was carrying 50 labourers back to their homes when they accident occurred. The driver of this truck and a minor were killed on the spot. At least 30 others were seriously injured and has been admitted to Jhargram hospital.
The driver of the ten-wheeler was arrested.
