Total team work responsible for win, says Pollock

By Staff

Mumbai, May 4 (UNI) The wicket of Virender Sehwag proved to be the turning point in today's match, observed the Mumbai Indians captain Shaun Pollock.

Pollock was speaking to mediapersons after his team had completed a 29-run win over the Delhi Daredevils to notch up their second win in six matches in the DLF Indian Premier League, while Daredevils have now won four and lost two matches so far.

Shaun Pollock credited the win today to total team work and the fact that the team played as a unit. ''Everybody is now performing, the younger guys are coming in and doing the job that is required of them and we still have Sachin to come back,'' a beaming Shaun Pollock told reporters.

He said, ''the win we recorded in Kolkata has been the turning point and that winning momentum we have carried forward over here also.'' Answering a query on whether he thought that 162 was a defendable score, Pollock said, ''it was a challenging total.

We were pegged back as we lost a few wickets in the middle, which resulted us in getting just 162.'' Pollock, however, said, ''the wicket has a bit in it and we were confident if we take a few early wickets we can put the pressure on the Delhi Daredevils and that is what happened.'' On the four changes in the team, Pollock said, ''we decided to get back Thornley to strengthen our batting and then the wicket was so that change of speed would do the trick, therefore, we went in with bowlers who could bowl the slower ball well.'' Pollock also had a word of praise to the supporters who thronged the stadium to cheer the Mumbai Indians on, said, ''it was like having an extra player in your team.'' UNI GS DB2039
