Measures to speed up railway work in TN: Minister
Kancheepuram, May 4: Minister of State for Railways R Velu said steps were taken to speed up the work between Arakonam-Thirumalpur railway junction.
Talking to newspersons here last night, he said necessary fund was allocated to complete the nine-km route work between the two stations at the earliest.
Mr Velu said the District Collector was asked to acquire requisite land for the completion of work.
The minister said efforts were taken to start pending work at new railway station here. Two or three platforms would be set up in this regard, he added.
He said only Southern Railway is functioning with automatic installation system. The system would be introduced in the new route, too, he added.
The minister said adequate fund was allocated for Chengalpattu-Thirukazhukundram route. Steps were initiated to improve infrastructure facilities at Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Salem, Chennai and Palakkad stations, he added.
Cheyyar MLA Vishnu Prasad, was among others, present on the occasion.
