Mysore, May 4 (UNI) Union Minister for External Affairs Vayalar Ravi today exuded confidence that Congress party would emerge with an absolute majority in the state.
Speaking to newsmen here he said that the main agenda of Congress was to rout Bharatiya Janata Party in the ensuing assembly elections to install a stable Congress government in the state.
Defending the extending the support to former Chief Minister S Bangarappa in Shikaripura assembly segment in Shimoga Mr Ravi said the Congress party intention was to defeat BJP rather then Mr B S Yeddyurappa in that constituency.
Referring to rise of prices of the food grains, Mr Ravi said that situation would be brought under control in the next two weeks time and the government would be releasing rice and wheat through the public distribution system shortly.
While Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes, who participated in the election campaign at Nanjangud said that the price rise in the country would not affect the prospects of the Congress party in the assembly elections and the rise in prices would be arrested shortly with proper measures which already taken by the UPA government.
The congress manifesto was prepared with main agenda to help all sections of the society besides providing facilities to farming community. He appealed to the people to reject other parties which have failed to provide good governance during the coalition government.
