BJP presses Centre for integrated action plan against terrorism
Bangalore, May 4 (UNI) BJP president Rajnath Singh has demanded the Centre to chalk out a comprehensive and integrated action plan against terrorism.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, before leaving for the upcoming Assembly election campaigning in Karnataka, he accused that ever since the UPA Government came to power, terrorism had been successful in spreading its nefarious designs all over the country.
Coming down heavily on the UPA Government for its poor pursuit against terrorist groups and their anti-India activities, Mr Singh said that the existence of more than 5,000 sleeper modules in almost all parts of the country was a clear indication that India was virtually sitting on a tinder box.
''UPA Government has adopted a soft attitude towards internal security, creating a situation where the self-confidence of the terrorists will increase and the self-confidence of the security forces will reduce,'' Mr Singh alleged.
In 2007, 2,300 innocent people were killed due to the mindless acts of terrorists across the country, which was nearly ten per cent of the total 22,685 people who died worldwide the same year, he said.
