Two state-of-art exhibition halls to be dedicated to nation
Ahmedabad, May 3 (UNI) Gujarat Science City has emerged as an effective platform for science education and is being popularised by constructing two state-of-the-art exhibition halls -- 'Hall of Space' and 'Hall of Science'.
The Halls would be dedicated to the nation tomorrow by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition L K Advani. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would preside over the function.
The 'Hall of Space' provides for a simulated Mission to Mars, computerised robotic demonstration of the Solar System, multi- screen panoramic projection on life in outer space, India's outstanding achievements in space including a futuristic animated exhibit interactive quiz on space.
The new Hall of space would have a rich display of various space flights, exciting images taken by Hubble telescope, space shuttle docking on the international space station or Kalpana Chawla commandeering that fateful shuttle. Besides, there would be Indian achievements in space research, scale models of all Indian satellites and launch vehicle, glorious images taken from Indian remote sensing satellites and an animated exhibition on India's future moon mission ''Chandrayaan''.
The 'Hall of Science', on the other hand, is set up with hands-on exhibition giving visitors the opportunity to perform experiments by themselves and learn science through a process of discovery. This new exhibition hall urges the visitors to touch and manipulate the exhibitions according to their liking.
In the Hall of Science, visitors are requested to go through the Light Island, an enclave having lots of interactive exhibition on properties of light, colour, shadow and vision. Here mathematics is all fun, pendulum is a moving beauty, creating different kinds of motions and patterns, and mirrors create magic.
Gujarat Science City is a bold initiative of the Government of Gujarat to realise this priority. The sprawling Centre at Ahmedabad which aims to provide a perfect blend of education and entertainment would showcase contemporary and imaginative exhibition, minds on experiences, working models, virtual reality, activity corners, labs and live demonstrations to provide an understanding of science and technology to the common man.
