Rushmi triumphs at Federal Bank Tournament

Kochi, May 3 (UNI) Top seed Rushmi Chakravarthi stamped her authority by winning the singles title beating Georgia's Magatha Okurashavli at the Federal Bank Women's International Tennis Tournament at Angamaly, near here.

In the 110-minute final, Rushmi prevailed over 18-year-old Magatha with a scoreline of 6-4,7-5.

In an entertaining match, both players toiled hard for points as they depended on powerful serves and deep volleys.

Rushmi, a former national champion, banked on her vast experience to match the power play of the young Georgian.

Later, 30-year-old Rushmi said she enjoyed playing in the tournament and was happy to be the champion in both singles and doubles.

Yesterday, Rushmi partnered Poojashree Venkatesha to win the doubles title.
