No relaxation of election code: Official
Mysore, May 3 (UNI) Deputy Commissioner and district election officer P Manivannan today told the political parties that there would not be relaxation in enforcing election code of conduct and that they should abide by it.
Addressing an all party meeting discuss the issues related to election code and receive complaints to strict curbs code of conduct. Representatives from JD(S), Congress, JD (U) and others parties participated in the meeting.
The parties complained that even beating of drums in villages to receive leaders was not being allowed.
They sought the information regarding the H D Kote BJP candidate who had allegedly filed a fake caste certificate.
The election officer replied that the concern officer had been suspended for issuing fake caste certificate. All particulars regarding the candidate had been forwarded to the Election Commission of India which is authorised to take further action.
He said if proper permission was obtained to store election materials a house would not be seized, however, the account should be supported by proper receipts, actions would be taken in such code.
Meanwhile the Nanjangud sectoral magistrate has booked three persons identified as 'film producers' and seized Rs 30 lakhs in cash from them which has been transporting unlawfully in a car.
The district election officials has been handed over the case to income tax department since. The arrested claimed that the money carried for the purpose of film shooting.
The Nanjangud police also seized Rs 1.3 lakhs cash from two persons who were arrested for violating the election code. It as alleged that the money was being carried to be distributed in Varuna constituency, the arrested persons are belongs to BJP party.
