Media Commission to study state of journalism mooted
Sirsa, May 3 (UNI) Media experts today called for constituting a Media Commission for an indepth study into the state of journalism in Haryana.
The idea was mooted during a function organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa to mark the World Press Freedom day.
The experts also discussed in detail the steps taken by the present state government for welfare of the media persons working in Haryana.
Mr Virender Singh Chauhan, chairperson of the department, said the World Press Freedom Day was an opportunity to celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom, to evaluate press freedom in the country, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to pay tributes to journalists who had lost their lives in the line of duty.
