Hamirpur, May 3 (UNI) Congress candidate O P Rattan today filed his nomination papers for the May 22 by-polls from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency in Himachal Pradesh.
HP Congress Committee (HPCC) president Viplove Thakur and Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Vidya Stokes were among others who accompanied Mr Rattan to file his papers before the district returnig officer.
Earlier, addressing a rally, orgganised on the occasion, Ms Stokes criticised the BJP for taking credits for the achievements of the previous Congress Government.
''The BJP has done nothing for the state and the nation and were now taking credit for the things done by the Congress.'' Alleging that price rise was the creation of the BJP, she said it was wrong to say that Congress led UPA was responsible for this.
Referring to the Congress Government's decision of providing cheap ration to the people of the state for which it made a provision of Rs 100 crore, she said it was one of the biggest schemes launched by any state government in the country.
Ms Stokes alleged that the BJP Government had done away with the scheme under pressure from from big traders. The BJP has no love and affection for the poor, she alleged.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Thakur said the BJP never worked for the poor and down trodden sections of society.
