Alert driver averts train accident
Tiruchirapalli, May 3 (UNI) Thanks to an alert driver of the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai Pallavan Superfast Express train, who averted a major train accident near the Golden Rock Railway station here today.
Railway sources said the driver noticed a major crack on the rail when the train, which left Tiruchirapalli junction around 0632 hrs, approached the Golden Rock railway station and brought the train to a halt immediately.
On information, the railways engineering staff rushed to the spot, rewelded the crack and set right the track within about half an hour.
Following this, the train was detained here for about 45 minutes and the train left for Chennai around 0715 hrs, the sources added.
