AIADMK to stage agitation in Nagapattinam on May 5
Chennai, May 3 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK will stage an agitation in Nagapattinam on May 5, condemning the DMK Government for the ''pathetic condition'' prevailing in the Government Headquarters Hospital and Primary Health Centres in the district.
AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa in a statement here said the stir would demand that all the administrative lapses in these hospitals be set right forthwith. The agitation would be led by Legislator C Karuppasamy, she added.
She alleged that though the Nagapattinam Government Headquarters Hospital had adequate facilities to treat all diseases, it was faced with heavy shortage of doctors. Besides, the hospital took about 15 days to hand over C T scan and ultrasound scan reports, delaying treatment to hapless patients. This even resulted in deaths in some cases or the patients going to other hospitals, she added.
Similarly, there was not a single female doctor at the maternity hospital built by the Shanthi Mohan Charitable Trust and nurses attented to patients. This had resulted in the death of a baby born in the caesarean section, she claimed.
