Warne backs down, not to file complaint against Ganguly

By Staff

New Delhi, May 2 : The skipper of Rajasthan Royals' Shane Warne has confirmed he will not be filing an official complaint against Kolkata Knight Riders captain Saurav Ganguly.

Speaking to reporters over the issue of Ganguly adopting delaying tactics during Thursday's match at the SMS Stadium in Jaipur, Anant Vyas - the media manager of the Rajasthan Royals, said: "The game should have been played in the right spirit and whether it was the issue of delayed overs or the catch, the match referee who is the representative of the Indian Premier League will look into it. It is the onus of the IPL governing council to decide what action needs to be taken."

"The teams looks to concentrate on their game against the Chennai Super Kings, and we do not want to involve ourselves in any sort of controversy. This is our final word on the controversy," he added.

Warne and his team mates took a decision to concentrate on the game, sources said.

Earlier, Manoj Badale - CEO, Rajasthan Royals said: "We are playing in the right spirit of the game which is why we top the fair play table," he said.

On Thursday, Warne had said that he would lodge a complaint against Ganguly for resorting to time-wasting tactics during their IPL match and refusing to accept the fielder's word on a "clean catch".

He expressed his disappointment over Ganguly's behaviour during a post-match press conference after the Royals beat the Knight Riders.

Reacting to Warne's statements, Ganguly dismissed Warne's allegations saying "who is Warne to lecture me?".
