UPites facing severe heat, Banda again hottest

Lucknow, May 2: People still await a respite from the scorching weather, as heat wave conditions continued to prevail in Uttar Pradesh.

As per the weatherman, Banda remained the hottest city for the second day in the state with temperature reaching 44.8 degrees Celsius, which was four notches above normal.

The day temperature changed a little in all the divisions of the state.

Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Jhansi, Agra and Meerut divisions remained appreciably above normal, while Gorakhpur division was recorded above normal.

Agra stood the second hottest at 44.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Varanasi 44.2, Allahabad 44.1, Kanpur 44, Lucknow and Bareilly 42.6.

Reports from Agra say due to heat, a 50 per cent decline was spotted in tourists coming at the world fame monument to love Taj Mahal. Death of one more person in the Taj city has taken the toll due to heat to seven here.

Whereas, over 12 persons are reported dead across the state in this summer till now.

Meanwhile, the met department forecast thunderstorm/duststorm accompanied by a squall at isolated places in all divisions of UP.
