Twenty border road workers feared killed in J-K landslide
Kishtwar (Jammu and Kashmir), May 2 : At least 20 road workers were feared dead after a landslide smashed into trucks in Kishtwar District, about 215 km from Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said that they faced a lot of problems while rescuing the people from the landslide affected area.
"We had to blast the hills in order to rescue them. I do not think there was any other way out," said Riaz Ahmed, Additional DC, Kishtwar.
"It is believed that around 28 workers were caught in the landslide. Several had been rescued," he added.
"A landslide took place, a huge rock fell from up there and all of them got buried under it. Our truck was under it. My friend pulled me out and pushed me down to the ground. I don't know how many survived, I feel really sad, I don't know what to say," said Abdul Khaliq, an eyewitness.
