State BJP unit defers 'Bharat bandh' in Arunachal
Itanagar, May 02 (UNI) In view of the coming Panchayat elections in Arunachal Pradesh, the state unit of the BJP has decided to defer the nationwide bandh in protest against the price rise to some other day.
State BJP spokesman Tai Tagak said here today that the NDA had called the bandh as the UPA government at the Centre had allegedly failed to take any action to control the rising prices of essential commodities.
''The matter has also been raised in Parliament by the NDA, which demanded the government to immediately initiate necessary steps to contain the price rise, especially of food and grocery items,'' Mr Tagak said.
Criticising the UPA government, the spokesman said even after regulation of VAT and other local taxes in the state, the prices were skyrocketing in the local market.
