Lokayukta cautions people against shielding corrupt officials

Bangalore, May 2 (UNI) Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde today cautioned people against shielding officials involved in corruption.

Addressing a press conference here, he said people who support corrupt officials would also face the same criminal charges as that of the accused.

Justice Hegde said during the raids on the premises of Government officials it was found that several documents were in benami or in the name of other people.

'' If a property does not belong to the accused, how come orginal documents are with him. It can happen if the other person is colluding with the corrupt official and shielding by not revealing to the investigating agency. This attracts Sec 12 under which such person is also liable for the same charges as that of corrupt official'', he added.
