Lahore, May 2 : An Indo-Pak co-production titled 'Jannat' will hit theatres in both Pakistan and India on May 16.

The premiere of the film will be held on May 13 in Lahore, and the cast from India would attend the event.

Produced by Suhail Khan from Pakistan and Mahesh Bhatt from India, the film was shot in South Africa.

"The story of the film is about a bookie, who fixes cricket matches. A time comes when he has to choose between his girlfriend and the profession," the Dawn quoted Khan, as saying.

Khan said the film cost around Rs150 million, and added that the joint venture would benefit Pakistan, as India is a growing film industry.

The revival of the Pakistan film industry is dependent on co-productions, Khan added.

"One does not have the kind of market in Pakistan to have one's money back. Having only 15 to 20 good cinemas in the country is a big problem when it comes to the exhibition of the film, he further said.

Directed by Kunal Deshmukh, the film stars Emraan Hashmi and newcomer Sonal Chauhan in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Samir Kochhar, Vishal Malhotra and Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh.

The singers are Kamran Ahmad, who is a Dubai-based Pakistani, KK, Richa Sharma, Rupam Islam and Rana Mazunder. Sayeed Qadri, Kamran Ahmad and Neelesh Misra penned down the lyrics, while Pritam Chakraborty composed the music.
