Action sought against Prison SP on Priyanka-Nalini meet

Chennai, May 2 (UNI) Counsel for Nalini, one of the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case, today sought action against the Superintendent of Special Prison for Women, Vellore, for allegedly providing false information about the recent meeting between the deceased leader's daughter Priyanka and Nalini inside the prison premises.

The petition was filed before the State Information Commission here by Nalini's Counsel Elangovan on behalf of Mr D Rajkumar, who is the son of Nalini's senior counsel S Doraisamy.

In his petition, Mr Rajkumar said after coming to know through the media about the reported meeting between Nalini and Priyanka on March 19, he wrote a letter to Prison Superintendent Rajasoundari seeking details of the meeting under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

In the letter, Mr Rajkumar sought to know under which provision of law Ms Rajasoundari had allowed Ms Priyanka to meet Nalini.

He also sought to know who had accompanied Rajiv's daughter, the duration of the meeting and what transpired between them.

However, Ms Rajasoundari in her reply to the letter, denied that such a meeting took place.

Since Priyanka herself had subsequently admitted meeting Nalini in the prison, Mr Rajkumar demanded an inquiry against the Superintendent for providing false information to him under the RTI Act and take appropriate action against Ms Rajasoundari.
