Trust demands Bharat Ratna for Deshpande
New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) The Husan Ara Trust has demanded conferring Bharat Ratna upon Nirmala Deshpande who died this morning.
The Trust has forwarded a proposal for conferring Bharat Ratna upon Dr Deshpende to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and BJP leaders L K Advani and Rajnath Singh.
Late Deshpande was the chief patron of the trust.
A diehard Gandhian, she had received Padma Vibhushan in 2006.
Born on October 17, 1929 in Nagpur, she had joined Vinoba Bhave's Bhoodan Movement in 1952 and undertook 'padyatras' of 40,000 km with Vinobaji.
