Amritsar, MAY 1 (UNI) Amritsar Police has arrested three smugglers after recovering 12 Kg heroin from their possession near the bus stand here.
This is the second major haul in the district in recent time as about five days back Amritsar Police had arrested three smugglers with 18 Kg heroin.
Those arrested include Vidyasagar of Jammu, Baldev Singh of Ludhiana and Rajbir Kaur of Amritsar.
The consignment was brought from Pakistan via Jammu by Vidyasagar and was delivered to Baldev, who was to further send it to Delhi.
Police had laid a trap near the city bus stand and recovered 11 Kg of the consignment and arrested Vidyasagar and Baldev. One Kg of the consignment was seized from Rajbir Kaur.
Rajbir Kaur is wife of Baljinder Singh alias Satnam Singh who had escaped from police custody some three weeks back. She has also been booked under various sections of IPC for actively helping Baljinder to escape from the custody.
She was earlier arrested in a case of NDPS Act and was released on bail in the November last. The police is conducting raids to arrest the fugitive smuggler.
Two cases have been registered in this regard in police station Civil Line and 'A' division Amritsar under various sections of NDPS Act.
