Ten militants nabbed in Manipur

Imphal, May 1: Altogether ten militants were nabbed by Manipur police and troops in separate incidents during the past 24 hours. The PRO of Assam Rifles (AR) said here today that acting on a tip-off, troops of 34 AR of the ninth Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation at the Wangjng area in Thoubal district apprehended two United National Liberation Front (UNLF) cadres and handed them over to police yesterday.

One 9 mm pistol (imported) with a 9 mm magazine, seven live rounds of 9 mm and a mobile phone were seized from their possession, the PRO added.

In another incident, troops of 23 and 21 AR of ninth Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched joint operations in the Lamjao area and Hiyanglam Hiranmol Turet in Imphal and apprehended three Kangleipak Communist Party KCP(GS) cadres and one People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK)(GS) cadre yesterday.

Four live rounds of AK-47 were seized from their possession. All the arrested militants along with recovered items were handed over to Kakching police station.

Meanwhile, Imphal East police, in three separate incidents, nabbed a cadre each of PREPAK, Revolutionary People's Front (RPF), People's Liberation Army (PLA) and People's United Liberation Front (PULF) yesterday.
