Semi-nude agitation by fire brigade employees
Nashik, May 1 (UNI) Employees of the Fire Brigade Department of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) today observed a semi-nude agitation to protest the NMC's delay in fulfilling their various demands.
Nearly 60-70 employees of the department wore only Banian and half pants and registered their protest. These employees have been working without uniforms for the last four years. The administration provided uniforms to only 130 people though there are nearly 165 employees.
These employees took out a protest march through various areas of the city and held demonstrations at the NMC headquarters in Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan. The agitation was led by Centre of Indian Unions (CITU) president Dr D L Karad, Corporator Reema Bhoge and others.
Besides the uniform issue, time-bound promotion, payment for extra work during 'Sinhastha' fair, implementation of technical payscale and financial remuneration for pending leaves were some of the other demands of the agitating employees.
