Melbourne, May 01 : American rapper Eve is wondering why the rap and hip-hop domains are dominated by men, without the trend seeming to change.

Eve, who is one of the genre's few leading ladies, has sold over seven million albums worldwide and won two Grammy Awards.

Along with Missy Elliott, Lil' Kim and Queen Latifah, she is one of the most successful women in the business and she's admits that she doesn't like it that there aren't more women rappers.

"Since hip hop started it's never been balanced as far as (there being) this many women and this many guys,'' Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying.

"I honestly don't know why that is. "It would be interesting to find out, because there are so many amazing female MCs and for some reason it's just hard for them to break through,'' she said.

According to her, it does not look like the situation is going to get any better either.

"It's not, unfortunately,'' she said.

"There are some that I've heard of that are so good they should be able to break through and they haven't. "There is a girl named Lil Mama and another one Teyana who are in the States, who are coming up and I think they're adorable, and I get excited when I see them,'' she stated.

Jeffers started her career in the late 1990s as the only female in the Ruff Ryders squad consisting of DMX, The LOX, and Drag-On and she proved that she could hold her own among the boys.

Her debut album 'Let There Be Eve' went double platinum and she said her fourth and latest album 'Here I Am' is her most feminine to date.

"I needed to do this kind of album for myself just as I matured. I'm happy it's a flirty album and it's not so testosterone driven,'' she added.

The album features the upcoming single 'All Night Long' on which the 29-year-old sings rather than raps.
