People voted for consensus and unity: Koirala

{image-G P_ Koirala_01052008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Kathmandu, May 1: Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said people have given a verdict in favour of consensus, cooperation and unity through the April 10 Constituent Assembly (CA) polls. "Now we have to concentrate on the forthcoming tasks as per the people's decision,'' said the PM in his message issued on the occasion of International Labour Day-2008 today. Recollecting the beginning of his political career from a trade union movement, Mr Koirala stated that a country could progress through the capacity of labour.

''May May First help establish unity, mutual understanding and give encouragement to all labour,'' wished the Prime Minister, who is also the President of Nepali Congress (NC). As part of the agreement of the major political parties, Constituent Assembly was held on April 10 to write a new constitution and abolish monarchy to formalise Nepal federal democratic republic country.

Meanwhile, Kush Kumar Joshi, Chairman of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry stated that May Day carried special importance this year. "After completion of political revolution, the country is now waiting for economic revolution," Mr Joshi said. May Day is celebrated across the world as a day of labourers rights.
