New Delhi, May 01 (UNI) The special staff of the New Delhi district police today busted an infant selling racket by recovering a three-day-old baby girl and arresting four people, including three women.
Working on a specific input, a special team was set up to bust the racket. A decoy fixed up a meeting with the gang for the ''purchase'' of a baby girl at Bengali Market this afternoon.
As the decoy was ''buying'' the infant for Rs 50,000, police caught the woman -- Jyoti -- with a three-day-old baby girl.
Later, police arrested Jyoti's son and two other women for the involvement in the racket.
A private midwife, Jyoti was involved in the racket for the past several years and had sold infants to customers in UP, Punjab, Rajasthan and the National Capital itself.
The accused used to look out for unwilling women and helped them deliver the baby after which the infants were sold.
