Kolkata, May 1 (UNI) Wishing Malcolm Speed all the very best in his future endeavours on his last day in office at the ICC, former ICC President Jagmohan Dalmiya today termed the whole chain of events ''unfortunate.'' ''The image of the ICC has taken a beating, '' he said.
''What has transpired over the last few weeks cannot be good for any organisation and certainly not for the ICC. Difference of opinion is central to the decision making process but if such differences take the shape of acrimony and eventually results in a fallout like what has happened between the President and CEO of the ICC, it doesn't augur well for the body,'' he added.
''I have had my differences with Malcolm on certain matters but never did things go out of control. In fact, such difference of opinion eventually allowed us to reach a solution that was good for game of cricket,'' asserted Dalmiya.
He said, ''It is a critical time for world cricket. In fact, the game is at a crossroad and the ICC has the responsibility of steering the game forward.'' He said, ''The current event is a one off and that in future, world cricket doesn't have to see untoward events of this nature.'' UNI SJC KK KLC RKM HS1940
