A seperate manifesto for B'lore by Cong

Bangalore, May 1: The Congress in Karantaka, which is making serious bid to come back to power today made 'tall' promises to citizens of Bangalore, which includes investment of over Rs 50,000 crore for infrastructure development, creating of a single agency for all service providers. CWC member and Election Manifesto Committee Chairman C K Jaffer Sharief, while releasing the manifesto, stated that party was seized of the constraints faced by the people of the city, one of the fastest growing cities in the world. A special focus would be given for its all-round development, he said. The special attention given by parties to the city comes in the wake of the constituencies within the limits of the metropolis going up to 28 from the previous 16 following the delimitation process.

Congress said a single window agency to bring all service providers including Water supply, Transport, Housing and power for their convenience would be formed. It also promised a separate circular railway for the city and widening of roads in high density corridors, construction of elevated roads and completion of all infrastructure projects in a time-bound manner.

The Party also promised to take up overall development and improving the quality of life of the inhabitants in about 500 slums in the city.

Most of the senior members of the party including Union Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Rajya Sabha deputy Chairman Rehman Khan, KPCC president Mallikarjuna Kharge, former Chief Minister N Dharam Singh were present on the dias.

However former Karantaka Chief Minister and Congress party's election coordination committee chairman S M Krishna and Campaign Committee chairman N Sidharamaiah conspicuous in their absence.
