Lucknow, Apr 30 (UNI) In yet another incident of Dalit harassment, a six-year-old girl was allegedly thrown into a fire as the minor dared to enter the road meant only for the upper caste people in Chata area of Mathura district.
The main accused Pintu Singh had been booked under section 307 of IPC and SC/ST Act, SSP R K Chaturvedi told UNI tonight.
However, he said the road was not meant for the particular caste and denied that it was a caste clash.
The youth does not have any criminal background, he added.
''It is an isolated case and the police will take strict action against the accused to set an example,'' the SSP asserted.
Saudan Singh Jatav's wife Manju and her daughter were on their way home, when the minor slipped her mother's hand and ran towards Ashok Thakur's residence.
Thakur's son Pintu allegedly interrupted the girl and asked her to leave the premises, but the minor refused to listen to him. The youth then threw her in a blazing fire.
The girl, who sustained 50 per cent burn injuries was admitted to Mathura district hospital.
