Two, including policemen, held for forgery

Kanpur Apr 30 (UNI) Police today arrested two members, including a police constable, of an inter-state gang, for issuing fake appointment letters of several ministeries of union government along with entitled facilities.

Superintendent of police (city) D N Mishra said after receiving several complaints about a gang of people moving in red-light vehicle as senior officials, the special operation group of police interrupted a car in Barra area and arrested Virendra Kumar Sharma and Constable Mehtab, who posed himself as director in textile ministry.

During interrogation, the duo, who were adamantly defending themself to have power to use red-light vehicle, failed to provide proper documents of their identity as director of Textile ministry..

Later, Virendra revealed that he was a right hand of notorious criminal Piyush Dwivedi, who hails from Auraiya and operates from Noida.

The Gang members used to cheat people by providing them forged letters of various ministeries.

The gang of ten was active in several districts, including Kanpur.

So far, it had cheated six people in the city.

The police constable, Mehtab was posted in police line as gunner of VIPs, including MLAs and other political leaders.

The gang used to charge Rs 3 lakh for fake documents and other facilities.
