Tingya best film at Marathi Film Award
Aurangabad, Apr 30 (UNI) Marathi feature film 'Tingya', was adjudged the Best movie at the 45th Marathi Film Award ceremony, held at the sprawling Garware Stadium here.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Marathi film personalities were among those present in the programme last evening.
Mr Deshmukh declared that from next year onwards the award money for Marathi movies would be doubled.
He presented the prestigious V Shantaram Award to the noted actor-couple Ramesh for their sterling contribution to Marathi film industry.
The programme was jointly organised by the state's department of cultural affairs, Ajanta-Ellora Festival Committee and Aurangabad Municipal Corporation.
Prominent among those who attended the programme included Cultural Affairs Minister Ashok Chavan, Minister-in-Charge of the district Dr Patangrao Kadam and Minister of State for Housing Preetamkumar Shegaonkar.
'Tingya', directed by Mangesh Hadawale, bagged the top honours by winning four awards in different categories, including best film and for genuine portrayal of rural parts of the country. Ajinkya Deo received the best actor award for his role in 'Wasudeo Balwant Phadke', while Aswhini Bhave bagged the best actress award for her performance in Kadachit.
