Rupee opens high at 40.43 against per USD

Mumbai, Apr 30: Rupee today resumed high at 40.43/45 paise against per USD with a modest gain of four paise from 40.47/48 on the previous day's close on fresh selling of dollar by foreign banks.

Later it fluctuated in a narrow range and quoted between 40.38 and 40.48 against per USD in mid-session. Dealers said,''Rupee recovered from a six-week low on Wednesday, as exporters and custodial banks bought the local unit, while traders were also eyeing the outcome of the US Federal Reserve's meeting later in the day.

Rupee was at 40.39/40 per dollar, 0.2 percent stronger than Tuesday's close of 40.47/48, its lowest close since March 18, dealers added.
