Puducherry, Apr 30: Speaker R Radhakrishnan today directed the administration to initiate action against the Puducherry Municipality through the Principal Directorate of Enforcement and give him a report on the action taken by tomorrow.
During the Zero Hour, R Siva (DMK) brought to the notice of the government the self-help group, engaged in garbage cleaning under the municipality, not being paid for the past several months.
When the matter was raised in the House before, the Chief Minister had assured that action will be taken in a couple of days.However,the salaries were was not paid yet.
When they went to the Municipal Chairperson to enquire about it, police complaints alleging they attempted to attack was registered against them.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy informed the member, the government had released the funds due to the municipality and he would enquire why the SHG was not paid yet.
At this juncture, the Speaker intervened and directed the government to initiate action against the Municipality.
Earlier, A Anbazhagan(AIADMK),R Viswanathan (CPI), Namasivayam (Cong) and Om Sakthi Sekhar (AIADMK) through special mentions brought to the notice of the House about the workers of the Swadeshi and Sri Bharathi Mills being on fast for the last two days, demanding Central DA and urged the administration to take necessary action to redress their grievances. However, there was no reply from the government.
