Malleswari included in NADA governing body

New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Sydney Olympics bronze medallist weightlifter Karnam Malleswari was today inducted in the governing body of National Anti Doping Agency (NADA).

According to a sports ministry statement here, the governing body also comprises Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi and 14-time 800m National champion Shiny Wilson.

The executive body of the NADA comprises All India Tennis Association Secretary General Anil Khanna and the Director General of Sports Authority of India (Ex-Officio).

The sports Ministry also said the government is maintaining a Corpus Fund since 1998 in the name of National Sports Development Funds (NSDF).

The Fund was started with a sum of Rs two crore and it accepts contribution from various sources such as private sectors, corporate sectors and Non-Resident Indians.

Government also contributes an amount matching to the contributions and the corpus now stands around Rs 20 crore.

The fund is independent of surplus and unutilised amount available with various sports federations.
