Mahendra Kapoor receives Dadasaheb Phalke Golden Voice award
Mumbai, Apr 30 (UNI) Legendary singer Mahendra Kapoor today received the 'Dadasaheb Phalke Golden Voice award', at a function here.
Many other Film industry veterans were conferred with the awards, instituted by the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy, on the occasion of the 139th birth anniversary of the father of Indian Cinema Dadasaheb Phalke, at the Bhaidas Hall at Vile parle in North-west Mumbai.
Among the other recipients of the award were Rajesh Khanna, who bagged the Phalke Golden Actor award, actress of 50s and 60s Shyama, who received the Golden Era Actor award and dance icon Sitara Devi, who got the Phalke Indian Classical Dancer Award.
Legendary filmmaker B R Chopra was the winner of the prestigious Phalke Ratna Award, but he was not able to attend the function because of ill-health.
Many other senior artistes and technicians were also honoured and felicitated with trophies at the function.
Prasad Group Managing Director Ramesh Prasad was the chief guest on the occasion.
