KGMOA calls for state-wide strike on May 15
Kochi, Apr 30 (UNI) The Kerala Government Medical Officer's Association (KGMOA) today called for a state-wide token strike on May 15 to protest against the State Government's failure to meet their demands.
Speaking to newspersons here, KGMOA representative P K Dilip Kumar said the call was a part of the decision taken by the Association's State Committee to intensify the ongoing non-co-operation strike across the State.
As part of the protests, 12-hour sit-in strike would be staged at the Secretariate in Thiruvananthapuram and District Medical Offices in all districts from tomorrow, Dr Kumar said.
He said the Association was open to talks with the government but the authorities concerned were not heeding to the needs of the doctors.
''During the token strike on May 15, the doctors will attend to emergency cases and in-patients at the hospitals,'' Dr Kumar noted.
The Association for the last two years was on a non-co-operation strike to press their demands, that included revision of salary structure and working clauses in the hospitals.
