Greater Noida, Apr 30 (UNI) Title favourite Gagan Verma carded a bogey-free round of four-under 68 to continue to lead the field at the end of the half-way stage of the LG Jaypee Open Amateur Golf here today.
Gagan's 36-hole total stood at 8-under 136.
Rahul Bajaj submitted the day's best card of five-under 67 to trail Gagan by two shots. Kapil Kumar's level par 72 put in the third spot while number one on the Order of Merit Manav Das shot a 69 to jump to the fourth spot at 144.
Moin Malak was fifth at 146 while Abhishek Jha was seventh at 147.
Beginning from the 10th, Gagan immediately tasted success on the par-5 11th making a birdie. He fired one more birdie on the 14th.
On the back nine, Gagan kept the momentum as he made consecutive birdies on the second and third, the former with an eight-feet attempt and the latter with a deft chip to one-foot.
As he neared his round and was still four-under for the day, he sank a testing eight-footer on the eighth (his 17th) while making a brilliant sandy par on the finishing hole.
Meanwhile, Rahul Bajaj made six birdies against a solitary bogey in his round of 67. The birdies came on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 11th with the bogey coming on the finishing hole.
