Deccan Chargers to clash with Kings XI Punjab tomorrow

By Staff

Hyderabad, Apr 30 (UNI) Relieved a bit with a win against the Mumbai Indians after three losses in succession, the Deccan Chargers are looking for a first home win in the tie against Kings XI Punjab at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here tomorrow.

The Chargers would be missing for the important league match the Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds, who had compiled 161 runs, including an unbeaten 117 against Rajasthan Royals, in three league matches.

However, the arrival of explosive South African batsman Herschell Gibbs would strengthen the batting line-up for the hosts, who could rely on another Australian hard hitter Adam Gilchrist whose quickfire century had helped the Chargers score an emphatic win against the Mumbai Indians.

The hosts have specialist bowlers like Chaminda Vaas and RP Singh. They would be supported by Pakistan import Shahid Afridi, who had got the much-needed breakthrough for the hosts against Rajasthan Royals in an earlier league outing.

The Mohali team, led by young Yuvaraj Singh, had an awesome battling lineup with Mahela Jayawardene,Kumara Sangakkara and Ramnaresh Sarwan. The Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Sangakkara, who had guided the Kings XI to victory against Mumbai Indians piling up an impressive 182, was expected to stay long at the wicket once again and get good runs against the Chargers.

Australian speedster Brett Lee would spearhead the visitors' bowling attack with support from S Sreesanth, Irfan Pathan, Kyle Mills and Piyush Chawla.
