CLP constitutes committees on price rise, law and order

Kohima, Apr 30 (UNI) The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) of Nagaland has constituted two committees to look into price rise and law and order situation of the state.

Addressing mediapersons here today, CLP leader and Leader of the Opposition I. Imkong said that the first committee would investigate various causes of abnormal price rise in the state and the report of the committee would be made public.

Mr Imkong said the second committee would take stock of the entire law and order of the state-extortion, abduction, kidnapping for ransom and other incidents and the report of the committee would also be made public.

He also said that random collection of 'taxes' and mushrooming of government Check Gates has resulted in phenomenal price rise of essential commodities, increase in transport costs and construction materials which brought heavy burden on the general public in the state.

He alleged that the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government has remained as 'mute spectator' to all these happenings, which was against the welfare of the people of the state.

Replying to a question on the resolutions of the Political Affairs Committee of the state government, which termed the clash among the underground groups as a violation of ceasefire, Mr Imkong said'' at last the DAN government has, for the first time, admitted that clashes are law and order problem.'' ''Earlier, the government always maintained that inter-factional clashes were 'political issue,' not a law and order problem,'' he said.
