BPCC launches movement against hoarders and blackmarketeers
Patna, Apr 30 (UNI) The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) today launched a statewide agitation against hoarders and blackmarketeers and alleged that the Nitish Kumar government was not taking stern action against them.
BPCC Chairman of the Media Cell and Chief Spokesperson Kripanath Pathak said the Congress leaders and workers staged a dharna at the district headquarters.
Addressing the workers and leaders on dharna in the state capital, Congress Legislative Party leader Ashok Kumar said while the Centre had initiated several steps to check the rising prices, the state government, led by Nitish Kumar, failed to check hoarding and blackmarketing.
He said the Congress-ruled states had successfully contained the prices whereas the NDA-ruled states were ''deliberately ignoring the efforts of the Centre in order to defame it.'' Meanwhile, Mr Pathak said the Congress workers would stage block-level demonstrations in all 539 blocks under the second phase of agitation tomorrow.
Mr Pathak alleged that the hoarders and blackmerketeers had been flourishing during the Nitish Kumar regime which failed to take action against them.
The common masses were facing a hard time as kerosene, foodgrains and other essential goods were out of reach and they had to pay exorbitant prices for it, he said, alleging that it was all being engineered by the NDA government.
Mr Pathak said the BPL families were also being deprived of the benefits even after adequate allotment of food grains and other items from the Centre.
